Marriage classes?

How beautiful is this cathedral?

Holy Rosary Cathedral in downtown Vancouver.

Hands down, one of the most beautiful places of worship in the city.

Too bad you have to undergo an interview, be a registered member of their Catholic parish, and attend marriage preparation courses provided for by the Archdiocese of Vancouver in order to be wed at this cathedral.

I must admit, I am thoroughly curious as to how they would prep you for marriage...  I could totally use some cooking lessons.

  3. You have to take a marriage course there as well - but it's only 1 Friday night and 1 Saturday day. No biggie.
I think that's pretty standard for most denominations of churches up here.

  4. Really??? What kind of things are covered in the course?

  5. Can you Skype the classes? The courses are probably just the normal married stuff like future goals, kids, communication, finances, etc. =)

  6. James and I found it a huge waste of time because we had already been living together. However, it was mandatory. You go over things like finances, how to handle arguments, open discussion on raising future chidren etc....usually the ones sanctioned by churches are obviously slightly religious, but mostly just common sense stuff.
