So much for Nothingness!

Okay so they were partial days of nothingness.

Yesterday I planned to wallow in the comfort of my bed for the majority of the day (which I did) but then I was invited poolside for chicken kabobs and pool shenanigans.... Who could resist?

Memorial Day 2011 Recap:

Chillin' with my second fam.

Brooklyn action shot!

Deadly face off

Three-way attack

Geronimo!

Miss Shelly and Kota. :)
Not a bad way to spend Memorial Day. Especially with my mother on a church trip to Niagara Falls and with the fajah at work. And the chicken kabobs were DELISH. Thank you Craig/Provost family!! :)

Today started off as another glorious lazy day (until my room became a sauna) but then I whipped up a last minute field trip to visit Ashley's lovely steed, Lola!

Sweets for the sweet.

Not human approved, Brent.

Lola's abode.
There's the beauty!

Making friends via bribery.

Her neighbors are nice as well.

Givin' Lola a fancy 'do.

Bonding.

Happy visitors.

Love. :)
Post stable sushi lunch totally hit the spot (especially since it was 96 degrees out at the stable!). And now I'm off to hit some balls with a friendly round of tennis!

Nothingness is turning into many fun adventures with great company! :)

Groom's Cake

I've been doing some research and it turns out that sometimes the groom gets his own cake. It's usually based on his personal interests and hobbies, etc.

I think it would be a nice gesture for Brian to have a cake that reflects him personally (Since the entire wedding is basically going to be a reflection of myself!) and so I found a few good ones.

Typical American Groom's Cake

Cute! But quite ambitious...

Creative.

Oh so true.

This one is so Brian. Greenery and city skylines. Perfect Urban Planner Cake!
Anyways I thought that these were a good way to show that the groom is just as important to the wedding as the bride. :)  As for the actual cake itself, I'll have to brainstorm and come up with something that'll completely knock Brian's socks off!

Recent Wedding Obsessions

Obsession Number 1: Grace Ormonde's Wedding Blog

I picked up one of her magazines on our way to Bermuda and fell. in. love. Quite possibly my favorite wedding magazine EVER!

Obsession Number 2: Bridal Gowns with Sexy Backs

Example: Check out Cymbeline's sexy number.

Example: My first love - Pnina
Drool.

Obsession Number 3: Jetsetter Website

It's not REALLY a wedding website but if we do resort to a destination wedding option, this is where I would book the place! This website lists availabilities from the most beautiful rentals in the world. And the best part? They provide discount prices for their members! :)

Obsession Number 4: Chicken Salad Anything

This is random. I have been on an insane chicken salad kick. Not grilled chicken salad or fried chicken salad. I'm talking about the gushy yummy mayo-infused stuff. I've been scarfing five of these a week!

You. In my belly. Now.

Obsession Number 5: Cat Eye Glasses

Takin' it back to the 1950's secretaries era!

Lookin' good Edna.

Trendy.

Marilyn dug it.

Prada's new cat eye sunglassses. These will be mine.

GLORIOUS NOTHINGNESS!

It is 8 am on Memorial Day and while there are slews of BBQs being planned and lit all across the country I am basking in pure utter laziness.

And man, does it feel GOOOODDDD.

Me. All day.

I'm not going to lie, I have planned a tentative late lunch today with some girlfriends but a sista gots ta eat at some point. :)

So update on life, wedding planning, etc.

Number one: The "rapture" has passed without event. Either that or I missed the fast train to Heavenland. But I'm placing my bets on the former. So the likelihood that the world will actually end on October 21st, 2011 is like zilch. In other words, stop quitting your jobs, put your kids back in school, and get a refund on all those billboards. C'mon people. Get it together.

Number two: The yoncie and I spent the last few days in Bermuda and it was nothing short of amazing. The beaches had some unreal waters  (It was like electric blue glass!) and we toured the historic St. George's and got our culture on. The islands were beautiful, the people were friendly, we made some great new friends (Thanks again Kristin and Kurt!) and ate some delicioso meals. Perfect perfect perfect!

Elbow Beach

Hello sun.

Noodles and curry in Hamilton.

Getting stocked at St. George's.

Horseshoe waters.

Horseshoe beach!

Swizzle hour with Kristin and Kurt. :)
So the trip was lovely and sadly the lover had to leave me yesterday after an intense night of partying with friends 'til four. freakin. AM. And seeing my parents at church the morning after. Slightly unpleasant if you were the one with the hangover (And it wasn't me).

Number three: Wedding plans. Brian has thrown a few wrenches into our plans by wanting to consider having an east coast wedding instead of a west coast one. He's slowly becoming aware of how many friends I have out here and I think he wants to make the wedding more available to them which is really thoughtful of him. However, I personally would rather stick to the original plan since we've gotten this far (Plus I think Vancouver is beautiful!) but I remain open-minded on the idea and will be looking for any venues out here that catch my eye. In west coast news, Brian has a venue viewing scheduled at the Terminal City Club this Saturday and I'm looking forward to hearing about what he thinks about the place.

I'm starting to get a bit nervous even though I know we have plenty of time left to plan. I wish our venue would book itself already so I can move on to planning more important things. Like my dress. :)

I have no doubt that we'll eventually find the perfect place for our venue and in any case, I already have a Plan B in the bag. Check out Fort Morgan Cay.

Yes that's right, 29-acre private island off of Honduras is what I'm talking about! And it's only $2,900 a night! Three-night destination wedding for 50 closest friends? Sounds pretty darn good right about now...

Where to begin....

Hello Blogging World.

As you may have guessed from my lack of posts, I am in prime-time finals week. The next 7 days will require sitters to be on standby while I am on suicide watch.

There are 3 things that are going to get me through this week:
1. Brian is coming to perform much needed neck and shoulder massages on Friday.
2. I've come way too freakin' far to give up now.
3. I will be basking in divine glorious Bermudian sunlight in 8 days.

Yes, we are going to Bermuda!!! :D

A small part of me (I'm talking like 0.0001%) is apprehensive about our trip to Bermuda because from what I've been reading online, the prices are ri. Diculous. Of course, I hadn't done my research prior to booking our flights because I had just ignorantly assumed that it's an island near the Caribbean, there's no way that it's gonna be any more expensive than the Bahamas (Blame my America-is-the-center-of-the-world based education). Incorrecto. On so many levels. For those who share my boat, Bermuda is NOT in the Caribbean. Secondly, Bermuda is not an autonomous country. It is governed by none other than THE motherland, the U.K. Yes, the country that just threw a wedding that is estimated to have cost at least 60 million dollars. So I don't fancy that there will be any good deals on fish and chips on the island. But the ever so resourceful and well-connected future-sister-in-law has contacted her friend Kristin who lives on the island, to give us the good, the bad, the ugly so hopefully we won't come back completely penniless or in debt.

In short, I'm super stoked to get my beach on!!!!! :)

We had a little trouble finding a place to stay (Tip: Do not book your plane ticket until you have booked a place to stay). Our little vacation getaway planning was a bit delayed. We had originally planned a roadtrip up to Ontario but Brian insisted on a beach requirement. By the time we booked our flights, all the ideal vacation rentals in Bermuda were pretty much reserved. Brian had originally booked us for the Fairmont Southampton but I really really could not handle what Brian was going to end up paying for it. I mean, anyone who knows me knows I love me some serious luxury but the pricetag on this one was just too much. ANYTHING would have been better. So we did a bit of compromising and settled on the Coco Reef Hotel in Paget Parish. It was located right where the best beaches on the island were and only a 10 minute bus ride into Hamilton and all we were sacrificing was our initial staunch opposition to the god-awful floral prints that will be vomited all over our beddings. And couches. And lampshades..... So anyways, I'm looking forward to getting my pale ass out there and rediscovering what life is really about and remind myself why I'm putting myself through this god-awful torturous program in the first place....
Ah-woooooooooo-sah. Seven more days. I can do this! :)

WEDDING PLANNING UPDATES:

Yesterday Brian visited The Loden's Halo Penthouse and he is 90% sure that this. Is. The. One (See for yourselves here). I'm pretty excited for this one, I can't lie. It seems to fit the bill: Holds 100 people for a loungey, laidback, cocktail style reception; there's an outdoor terrace with a spectacular view; the location is central; the penthouse is on the 18th floor and dancing and music are allowed (These were impossible for us to find anywhere else!!); and the price is totally doable! Brian says that there are still plenty of spots open for next year so we still have time to make our decision and if I like it in July when I'm out there, we'll finally book our wedding venue!!!

Time to hit the books again. I promise that in seven more days, my posts will be more regular, focused, and less bitching about school. Scout's honor. :)

Honeymoon Ideas!!!

So I'm currently sitting at a friend's house trying to get my study on since I got two exams this week (Brutal).

But of course I am distracting myself by looking up Honeymoon getaways!

If you have been following my blogs, you may have figured out that I am having a major Balinese itch. I am in LOVE with the idea of going to BALI. I'm OBSESSED with anything and everything Bali. It's just so serene and calming and....... Balinese.

I've been to a bed and breakfast in Hawaii that was constructed using imported Balinese lumber and frames and it was unbearably beautiful! I. love. Balinese-inspired architecture. Even a few of the wedding reception venues I've been eyeing incorporate the bali-bali thing. I know. Like I said, I'm OBSESSED.

I think I'm ready for the real deal.

Meet the Alila Villas Soori in Tabanon, Bali.

Oh hello ocean.

Oh hello private pool.

Hello beautiful outdoor restaurant with spectacular views.

Hello infinity pool.

I will see you soon.

The place is PERFECT for a couple's getaway. It's secluded and far from any tourist traps. It'd just be me, my man, and the beautiful surroundings...... Sigh. Can I skip the wedding and just head straight to the honeymoon?

Bali is seriously BALLIN'!!!! :)
